Añejo tequila and mezcal with mole bitters. Built for the tankers' cigar: a Mexican-spirit Old Fashioned to match a Mexican San Andrés wrapper. It's one of ten original pairing drinks in the Ready Room, built to sit alongside the Main Gun.

Why Sabot Round Pairs With the Main Gun
In our tasting notes, the Main Gun has light pepper that builds, earthy and woody foundations, dark chocolate, lightly bitter cocoa and subtle leather, growing stronger toward a full-bodied final third.
Aged agave has earthy, woody depth to stand up to the Main Gun as its strength builds into the final third. A little mezcal adds smoky backbone, and mole bitters echo the dark chocolate and bitter cocoa.
Ingredients
- 1½ oz añejo tequila
- ½ oz mezcal
- ¼ oz agave syrup (1:1)
- 2 dashes mole bitters
- Garnish: orange peel
Syrup note: Agave syrup (1:1): Stir equal parts agave nectar and warm water. Keeps 1 month refrigerated.
How to Make Sabot Round
- Add everything to a mixing glass with ice.
- Stir about 30 seconds.
- Strain over one large cube.
- Express an orange peel over the drink and rest it on the rim.
Make it your own: Not a mezcal fan? Use 2 oz añejo and skip it.
Pairing Tips
- This drink earns its keep in the final third, when Main Gun's strength builds. Save the last third of the glass for it.
- Choose an añejo with oak and cooked-agave depth rather than a very sweet, vanilla-heavy bottle.
- Mezcal smoke plus cigar smoke can stack quickly. Start with the ½ oz listed before you add more.
